YOGA is a form of fitness that combines body movement - postures, stretches and static holds - with breathing techniques and guided relaxation. Learning correct breathing techniques makes our whole-body work more effectively. Rest and relaxation are crucial for young developing minds. It is here that clarity is formed and ideas are absorbed. A yoga philosophy encourages living with awareness, and values such as respect, responsibility, honesty, integrity and compassion. These practices together, benefit the whole body resulting in a positive, healthy sense of wellbeing.

YOGA THERAPY takes yoga to the next level by providing a remedial benefit, with the intention to improve an issue. Yoga Therapy requires knowledge of anatomy and the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), to target body systems specifically. In TCM, meridians are energy channels in the body that transport energy (Qi). Think of it as trucks travelling with supplies (Qi) along freeways (meridians). Each meridian is associated with specific organs and functions. Like on the freeway, sometimes the traffic is slow or blocked – this happens with energy in our body causing an imbalance and in turn, certain ailments. Specific Yoga Therapy exercises and breath, work on targeted organs and meridians to restore energy and function, creating balance in the meridian. This has profound results on the body that can be seen in a very short period.

How much time do you spend dwelling over the past? Children do too. Are your children already worried about things that may happen in the future - tomorrow, next year? We know that the only moment in time we can control is the present moment, but what does that mean? How do we do that? Mindfulness teaches children how to do it - and they are teaching their parents! It is about awareness - of breath, mind and body in the present moment. Practicing mindfulness sets children up for success! When breath calms the nervous system it creates clarity so we can focus, concentrate, become calm, connected and present. In mindfulness we observe our thoughts and, with breath, learn how to avoid following them down the rabbit hole. It is here that children learn the magic of letting go, building resilience.
